more bits and pieces

I have some more things to share things I have had for a couple weeks. Firstly I finished another collage for my art journal. I decided to stick to reds and pinks to try and make it a little more challenging for myself. This made it take a little longer to finish but I am happy with it in the end.
next are a couple more vintage children's books I found at the op shop. Firstly this christmas one is adorable. It is called Polly's Christmas Present and was published in 1953. Here are a couple of pages from it
so cute
this one is a children's dictionary. It is called the A-Z Children's Picture Dictionary. It is so delightful, the pictures are wonderful and so are is the wording. It refers to children throughout for the definitions and the children are "Jack and Jill"!!! It was published in the UK in 1951.

I had a photo of the cover but it was quite blurred, it has a red cloth cover with A-Z on it with
the dust cover long gone.
I have bought some fabric here and there lately. Here are 2. The first one is a Michael Miller print I bought from Jennie at Posie Patchwork and lovely Jen has put in a few little sample squares of some other cute prints. I bought this to make a cover for my Sunbeam, the one I bought from Ebay but now I have the "new" old one hubby bought (see last post) I will HAVE to buy some more fabric to make 2 covers!!!
this other one is a Moda print I bought from Ebay. It was incredibly cheap for a metre. I get so frustrated with most places having only FQ's and it is nice to see metres available. I was just lucky no-one else bid on it. I can't remember exactly how much as it was a few weeks ago now but only about $5.
I have been in complete denial about xmas and here it is upon us. I am the least organised than I have ever been. I just wish xmas would go away actually. I usually manage to feel excited for the girls by xmas eve. School holidays started today so now we have 2 whole months of school holiday bliss!!!!!!!!!!!!! not!!!

mixmaster heaven

I can't believe I haven't even posted in December yet!! It has been a crazy few weeks. Mum had a bad fall and instead of using her hands to stop her fall she used her face!! Her glasses smashed into her face and has left a huge mess. She stayed here with us for 4 nights and apart from looking like she took on a pub full of Vikings she is quite fine! Finally her appointment has come through for Melbourne and she goes on Friday and my sister is going with her.

Last week hubby went to get the paper and bread, came home and got Isobel and they went to town. I was still in bed as I wasn't feeling the best. Usually mornings are a terrible time for me and I never know how I will feel once the day gets underway. I went out to the kitchen to make copious amounts of tea and after a minute or so I noticed on the sink this treasure of a Sunbeam Mixer!! It was quite a surreal thing and I stood there stunned for a while thinking I was still asleep or I had died and gone to Sunbeam heaven!!!!!! Hubby had stopped at a garage sale and bought this little beauty for FIVE dollars!!!!! I couldn't believe it after a year of trying to get one I could afford on ebay after my other 2 died!!! It goes really well too. What a lovely surprise. Apparently it was filthy so he had cleaned it up before I saw it and it looks sooo good.

a couple of wips! I am wip-ing as fast as I can but not fast enough, nothing seems to be getting finished.
and of course some op shop treasures from last week! I had to have this little beauty case as it reminded me of one I had as a child only mine was cream. 2 pretty pillowcases

some more Golden Books. This is my 3rd copy of The Taxi That Hurried as I just love the style of illustration and when I see it I just have to have it just in case......I might lose a copy or something like that!!!
and finally some wonderful vintage Tupperware. I get so excited when I find this. It is getting harder and harder to find in mint condition.
I still have lots of other things to share with you so I will be back very soon. I definately want to do a few more posts before xmas. :)
