mighty macro

I have been having SOOOO much fun with my new little toy my gorgeous family gave me for Mother's Day. My new camera. I wanted a camera that was very little and light weight, had a big screen AND most definately an anti-shake function!!! The macro on it is soooo much better than on our old old digital and I am clicking everything way up close!!!

these pincushion ones are my favourite so far!

yes I'm still here!!!

Wow it has been ages since I posted and it certainly feels like it too! Once it gets well over a week since I have done a post I start to feel really out of touch with the whole blogging thing.
Mum is quite good now and thank you SO much to everyone who left me a comment to wish her well. It felt warm and fuzzy to receive such nice thoughts and wishes and it does make a hard time a little easier having support from such a wonderful blogging community. thank you.
Mum was in hospital over a week and it took a few days before they could stabilise her heart which was worrying. She has had a few really good days since coming home. I just hope it stays that way.

As you can imagine not much in the way of handmade has gone on. The postman has cheered me up as he usually does and brought me this very cute fabric. Superbuzzy had a sale and I couldn't help myself!!!!!
he also brought me this little gem. Such great reading I couldn't put it down.
and..last post I mentioned I would go op shopping for therapy, well I didn't get there. I started another collage instead, for therapy. It really is like doing a jigsaw for me. Placement of each piece may look very random but it's actually not. It can take ages and sometimes a piece will sit in place overnight for me to look at it the next day before I am sure, and then I glue it down.

wishing everyone a great week!!! I am DEFINATELY getting to an op shop this week :)

a bit frazzled

Yesterday did not turn out to be a good day. On Mother's Day I thought Mum looked quite unwell but she said she wasn't too bad. Her Lupus has really caused her health to plummet over the last 12 months and she has had a couple of trips to hospital, but things have been quite good since before Christmas. Anyway, I sent a few texts on Monday to her and didn't get any answers so I rang her and she said she felt fine but had been asleep all day. So yesterday morning I went over to see how she was and she was dreadful! I had to ring the ambulance and they were wonderful. After they arrived and said they would take her to hospital they realised her heart was doing crazy stuff. The hospital still haven't been able to completely stabilise her but she is monitored constantly and we are waiting for improvement.
Meanwhile I leave you with a couple of oppy treasures I picked up a few days ago.
A beautiful quality pair of pillowcases on the left and the the one on the right is a single doona cover that was just tooooo pretty to pass up at $4!
I have been looking for quite some time for a vintage butter dish. I was looking for Depression Glass but the ones on Ebay with postage were going to be a bit too much. But look at this one!! Found at Vinnies for $2!!!!!!!! I couldn't pick it up fast enough. I may have a trip to the oppy in the next day or so as I find it really good therapy and I feel I need some therapy at the moment :(

happy mother's day for tomorrow

Aren't these the cutest cards ever??!! I found them at the Salvos quite a few weeks ago but thought I would save the photo for now. Four of them are Mother's Day cards and two are birthday. I am not sure how old they are but they reminded me of the cards in the 70's. The 4 Mother's Day ones are in plastic and that was all grubby and the tape perished away but the cards are in perfect condition. I intend on giving Mum one tomorrow, not sure which one I will part with yet??!!!!!! I don't think I can part with the toadstool one no matter how much I love and cherish my mum! I'm sure she would understand. As for the bag I am making mum for Mother's Day well that is another story!!!! I am sure she will understand about that too and the fact she will be getting it next week!! I do have some goodies from Darrell Lea to give her tomorow though so it's not all bad! Happy Day to all you mums out there hope you get breakky in bed!!!

docs and pegs

This is my very cute peg apron I won from Kootoyoo. Isn't it just the cutest thing ever?! Thank you Kirsty I do love it. The little clothesline and outfit on it are adorable! AND it even had some pegs in it too!! Kirsty did a fantastic 'week of pillowcases' over at Mikes, so if you haven't checked it out you should pop over and have a look!

Here is my absolute treasure from the op shop that I mentioned last post. I love Doc Martens and have worn them for about 20 years and as you would know if you wear them, they last for years and years. My newest pair would be about 6 years old and still look great. But when I stumbled on these I couldn't believe my luck. Not only were they my size but in as new condition too. I don't think they have been worn more than once. I paid only $25 for near new Docs!!!!!!!! I think that day the op shop gods were shining on me!!!! I took the photo outside because my camera doesn't seem to blur if it's outside!

I picked up some wonderful Golden Books a little while ago. I am finding them so hard to find now. The lady putting out the books told me they have the same couple of people who come in everyday just to get the Golden Books so I am lucky to get any from that particular shop.

and also a vintage Tupperware jug which is becoming another rare thing. Finding good condition vintage Tupperware now is like striking gold I think. It hardly turns up in the op shops and on ebay it is fought over and I am not prepared to pay that kind of money for it. It makes it more fun if it just turns up unexpectedly in an op shop, don't you think?????

back in the swing

Our lovely postman was kind enough to deliver this little package to me this week! I have the WashDay fabric to make a curtain for our laundry and the Butterfly fabric mum chose so I can make her a bag for Mother's Day, and the other two are for, well, just because............! Can you believe when the internet first started there was some worry by Australia Post that with emails there would be a drastic decline in posted items??? Clearly they didn't envisage the onset of ONLINE SHOPPING!!!!!! and what a wonderful thing it is!

this cute fabric I have had for ages and have finally started this simple little project. I am trying to get a backlog of wips finished before starting some new things.

and this lovely Japanese fabric that so many of us have, I used mine to make a curtain for the loo!! Let's face it, the loo can be a cold lonely place in winter! Having a thick curtain has really made it cosier. It will also keep out the afternoon sun in summer.
This week I scored the most wonderful op shop treasure ever (for me anyway) so I will upload that very soon AND last week I won the most cute giveaway from Kirsty over at Kootoyoo and my goodie has arrived so I must get a photo of that too! Thank you Kirsty I love it!! Until then...happy weekend!
