swap cards

I was going through my old swap cards the other day. It brought back so many memories of being in primary school and the excitement swap cards brought to me and my friends. (and playing elastics too of course!!!) That buzz of collecting and swapping. Not often did I get to actually buy new ones but I remember the wonderful feeling of being able to. Here are some of my favourite ones. They are very clearly 70s!!! Also in my collection are some of mum's surviving cards from the 40s!! You can really see the difference in style can't you? The one on the bottom right of mum's old ones looks even older than what mum would of had so maybe nan had swap cards too!! I must see if I can find out.

I am going to take a little blogging break I think. I am going to just have a few weeks where I won't be posting. I have some stuff to do and also want to desperately catch up on sewing. To get so many projects finished and some others started. I will still be popping into my favourite blogs and to Flickr. Take care all and see you in a few weeks. :)

my last week.....

it's been a bit of a non productive week. I am still tyring to gain some energy which is happening ever so slowly. I have about 5 appointments over the next 2 weeks for different tests so I am not looking forward to that as I just detest having to keep appointments...a real commitment issue I think!

But on to better things.....another very cute piece of fabric I scored with owls and large apples again!! This is a sheet so it is not very thick but cute as all the same!!! This one, like the others was filthy, it had a few hot washes and then was on the line in the rain for 3 days!! So it was very soft after that.

I also got this cute bunch of stuff from the Postie sometime during my haze of flu! I started stitching my name but only nearly finished the L and unpicked it. It was a woeful attempt and decided to wait until I really felt able to stitch!! Thank you Brown Owls!

and some cupcakes! We are a little cupcake crazy in this house and my eldest Possum, Zoe (15)loves them and is making them all the time. This is wonderful news as she has never been interested in baking, but is now doing it all the time. These are marble cupcakes. A lot of fiddling required and I don't think I could of bothered with this recipe, quick and easy that's my baking!! But Zoe did a marvelous job of them! All this work though, and they were eaten in a flash!!

apples and owls

thanks so much for the get well wishes, I am plodding along and it is a slow recovery - very frustrating. Some photos to catch up on....here is the bag I made mum, in this photo it is just waiting for a button but I have since pulled it apart again as it was too big for what mum needed. Also I felt it wasn't sturdy enough. I had a middle layer of stuff (a thin facing type thing) but it stretched as I sewed it so I ripped it out and didn't replace it which I should of. What is the best thing to put in bags to support them without being mega thick???? any suggestions are welcome.
inside the bag

and photos of some really cute things I bought recently, below is one of a pair of vintage curtains. I love the huge apples and the owl peeking out of the tree!!

and a thick bedspread. Both were filthy and took several washes, here they are on the clothesline. I will eventually cut these up when I feel the inner strength to cut into them!!! Actually the curtains are really rough around the edges so that will be easy but the bedspread is in mint condition. I feel a dilemma coming on!!!!!
I hope to be back soon. take care everyone :)

giant germs!

I have been struck down by giant, grotesque, grobbly germs!!! I feel so ill I can hardly move and my brain seems to have disappeared too!!! My girls, who obviously gave me these germs, have recovered quite nicely and are cheerily running around enjoying their school holidays with a very busy social life!!! Me, on the otherhand, am in bed for the 4th day slowly going mad.

I do hope to be up and about very soon as it is DRIVING ME CRAZY!!!!!!! I am not sure though how desperate I would have to be to take tablets with Chlorine in them?????
