creative space sort of organised....

My new space is pretty much organised. I still have some work to do but I can sit down to work now. I have most supplies pushed to the back of my big work table......

bookshelf is full of books, journals and tins, I still have big tubs full of fabric but have reduced the number of tubs. I have put quite a bit of fabric and yarn in the suitcases. I have another large one but it just looked too many so that will stay under the bed.

sewing machine on her table but I will put her away when I need this table for messy mixed media stuff hence the plastic......

and look what I discovered in the large brown case under the bed. I forgot I had it so it was a lovely surprise. Two Laura Ashley curtains I bought for a song ages ago to cut up and two pink chenille bedspreads.

a couple of small cases........full of course, with paints and stuff

I have a new cupboard too...which is going to be great to hide stuff away...

see what I mean

the bottom shelf has fans stored for the summer but the rest is my sewing stuff and the middle shelf is all my 'alteration pile'!!!! I have made a start on this during the week. I have hemmed two pairs of school pants and three pairs of new track pants.

I always feel I can't get on with the fun kinda sewing with a pile like this!

All I want to do is make myself a bag, just a simple, sturdy tote out of some of my vintage furnishing fabric so I am going to ignore this pile until I have a bag!!

If you are wondering how my crocheting is going, all those granny squares...........well my knitting is coming along fast! I should have a finished shawl next post!
thanks to Kirsty for hosting, pop over to check out some fab creative spaces

Oooh, this is so what I need to do. And I know what you mean about having to do the boring work first before you get on to the fun stuff. I usually set myself a manageable list and once completed I can then go and do the stuff I want to do!

I'm the same, I have to get mending and alterations etc out of the way before the fun sewing can start.

Those chenille blankets are to die for.

In the words of Nike: Just do it!
The bag is a much bigger priority :)

It must be a good time to be doing a tidy up, as I have seen a few tidied creative spaces today!

I have cupboards like that too! I love your vintage suitcases. I have been on the look out for some more too.

Whata great set up you have and how exciting to find forgotten treasures. Can't wait to see your knitting and your sturdy vintage tote!! Is your table Laminex?? I remember seeing tables like that, with the green marbled pattern, in the Olden Days!!!

I'm sure it helps our creativity when our space is more organised. It looks great!

Love the suitcases...my place is full of them.

The dreaded alterations pile!

Greetings Linda from England. Great to see all your work in progress down there in Tassie. Stacks of inspiration for creation...love it...just my kind of space! Such fun finding forgotten things in suitcases. We know chenille bedspreads as candlewicks but chenille is a much nicer name (presume ours were once made from the wicks of candles). Thanks for popping in to my Flutterby Patch. My flock seem to be spending a lot of time with you down south and will start another trip tomorrow with some new characters to knit! Eli

Oh gosh, there is just so much there! I love your big work table. I had one like that a couple of houses ago, but now it's my husband's and there is clay all over it! And no kiln, where's the justice, I ask you?! Anyway, you look like you have lots of lovely storage space and those suitcases are terrific. Vintage suitcases have been on my mind today (something in the ether!) as I think they would be great to put my goodies in when I sell them in shops... must do a trial run!

Linda, so much space, i am jealous of all this room

I love the whole lot of what you have done. The concept sounds rather like mine, right down to the pile that is just to hard to organise, so in my case stays hidden under a pretty quilt. Cool green table too. Cherrie

If you ignore the alterations pile long enough you won't have to do it because they will all have outgrown the cloths. HA HA

Love your table.

Lisar said...

I am sure I have the same table as you...mine belonged to my grandmother and it folds away withthe top going vertically....I wonder if they are the same....I certainly have the same green marbled laminex....it's been a fantastic little table over the years...maybe I'll have to show my creative space sometime.

wow what a clean up you've had. good work!
I hate the alteration pile, it watches me every time I enter the craft room!!

It looks fabulous. You've inspired me to rethink my space a little. How exciting.

I was touched to see my little collage hanging there too.

Happy creating.

It is great to see your space ready for action! The old suitcases are great. I have an old cabin trunk that I could not figure out how to get in my space but I can't lose either. I know what you mean about the mending/alteration pile but it sounds like you deserve to make that bag.

Your new creative area looks great - and so neat - mine would never stay this way (just wait - it would never get that way in the first place)

Betty Jo said...

Just wanted to ask..will you come over to my studio and make it neat and tidy like yours? It's lovely.
I'm actually hacking into old laminex just like your table top right now.( don't worry i found it battered in the hard rubbish)
