I have been gluing and doodling in my art journals and enjoying the process so much. I always have a few journals on the go at any one time because sometimes I like to work small (A5) and other times larger (A3).
It is feast or famine with my journals though. Sometimes I practically carry them around with me all day, then I may put them down and not open them for a week or so. This is how I am with all things creative like my mixed media work, sewing and stitching.
I am constantly thinking of creating but not actually creating everyday. I find this damn annoying but I can't seem to change my way of working. I just can't force it. e.g. I am constantly thinking of some mixed media works I will be doing for swaps, but I keep putting off starting them until other projects are out of the way.
Maybe part of the problem is not having the space. I have to clear away sewing to make room for paint and mixed media work. It would be wonderful to have a table set up for both.
My workspace is in a corner of an open plan living space so I am always trying to keep it tidy and tend not to get all my stuff out that fills the big tubs because of the mess it will make.
I think this really stifles creativity but I should be happy to have a space I know and most of the time I am.
Having said all that, I couldn't live without having my journals within reach for when I need them and they are portable too. I can work in them anywhere. They are the best therapy I have ever had and the cheapest.
Do you spend a lot of time thinking about creating? Or do you create with consistency? I'd love to know...ps..I am sad Doc Martin has finished but glad it had a happy ending...does anyone know if there is another series???

Your artwork is great! I work from my cabinet bench top, so I know what you mean...One day a little studio just for me would be wonderful...one day...
I hope there is another series of Doc Martin I love it
Just googled it, looks like Series 5 will be produced next year.

Cass pipped me at the post, there will be a new season filmed in 2011!!
You're definitely not alone, there's some things I have to leave unfinished for some time because I really have to be in the right frame of mind. I gave up worrying about this a while ago because I usually get back to it, sooner or later!
PS. That was a great finish to Doc Martin, Ant and I couldn't stop laughing. But what always gets me is that TV labours only seem to last 10 minutes max - if only!!
I'm so glad Doc Martin is continuing too! I just love it.
I know exactly what you mean Linda! My craft space is part of my open plan lounge / dining / kitchen area, so I'm constantly looking at the mess I'm creating which I hate, but don't have the energy to clean up.
I also have a million ideas running around in my head, but never enough time or energy to do anything about them. Frustrating!
Oh Linda I hear you . I am lucky enough to have my own big studio but damn work gets into my time .
Love your journal .
Wasn't Doc Martin lovely....I cried a little I admit...sniff.
definately the same here! I feast and famine with all my stuff, books, sewing, scrapbooking. In fact sometimes it may be months between actual crafting but I am constantly thinking what to do next.
Hi Linda, I can certainly relate about creativity inconsistency! I get a bee in my bonnet and just have to do something, and then suddenly I change my mind and start something completely different! I usually have 2-3 wool tasks on the go, then I also have 1-2 paintings. I've often thought it is because I'm an Aries. Stopping and starting! My sister is Virgo and very methodical and neat. I have wool and craft all over the house! :-)
Such a beautiful piece of art! That journal must be so pretty. I can understand why it is so special for you.
I know what you mean, by not having enough space for yourself. You actually have to tidy up your creativity, while it is still there in your mind.
I don't get things done either, wanting to finish the old first but wanting to start new ideas too. That stops me from developing my own creativity. Then I tend to take a pattern, to let things go faster. I am not quite happy about that.
Have a lovely weekend! xo
PS: what book is on the mug?
Having a space that you can leave set up really does make a difference.
I spend a lot of time thinking about creating. I tend to work in bursts. I'm not doing much at the moment cause in Winter all I want to do is stay cosy and comfy on the couch.
