pretty pair

I have had these for a while now but hadn't taken a photo of them.  I picked them up at the Salvos.  I had been looking for glasses like this for a long time so I was very happy to find them.  I constantly have an eye out for a few more.
I love using them.  A big improvement on all the others in the cupboard that are covered in High School Musical or Hannah Montana...

can you guess??

Kate over at Fox's Lane who has done all the organising for the Pincushion Swap has been busy again organising a Guessing Game.  Anyone can have a go.  Try and guess which pincushion belongs to which swapper.  They are not the pincushions we are making, but ones we use.  Pop over and have a guess!!
These pincushions aren't for the swap either, they are just ones I have made before.  See you at Kate's place......

my creative space

It's all about the pincushion at the moment. I am trying to make it match a picture I have in my head. So far so good. I am really enjoying the process. I also have left myself enough time if I am not happy with it and need to start again. If I am making something for someone else I have a lot of trouble being completely happy with it and get to a stage where I just have to let it go, or I would never finish it.

When I was a Potter I loved the whole journey of making pots and experimenting with glazes, making up my own recipes for them. But it was quite a rare thing for me to be totally happy with the end result. If I was totally happy, it was a wonderful feeling.

Thank you for your sweet comments about the new name for the blog and also the well wishes for mum. I am happy to say she has picked up a bit in the last day or so and even though she will still be unwell with Lupus, this scare is hopefully over.

Thanks to Kirsty for hosting My Creative Space, pop over and check it all out...

new name...

Here is my first post as "2 Pink Possum Lane" No matter how many names I thought of , I kept coming back to PP Lane and then Jodie suggested "2" PP Lane like a full address and it just clicked. I thought it was brilliant, so thank you to Jodie!! (big time royalty cheque in the mail)

I have had a bit of a crap week so far. We have had to get mum to the Emergency Dept 3 times in 5 days. Each time the Ambulance Officers have been very concerned about her but in their infinite wisdom the E Dept have given her antibiotics and sent her home. It's all a real worry and we are at a loss as to what to do. Tried all avenues. As she has Lupus she has many many complicated health issues and is very ill.

So, yesterday to cope with the stress...I baked of course. I made Cindy's yummo Lemon Ricotta Slice. It is soooo delicious Cindy thank you. I must admit I even had a tiny weeny piece for breakfast!!(OK OK maybe 2 or 3) Pop over to Cindy at 2Paw for this recipe, it is melt in your mouth type of divine. Mine maybe a little different to Cindy's in that I used gluten free flour for the base and a little too much butter but the result is a very chewy base which is very moreish. I didn't have cream so I used vanilla yoghurt and it worked out fine, but I am going to make it with cream as that must be even better.

I am busting with ideas for my pincushion but I keep coming back to the first one that popped into my head. I am just not sure how it will work logistically so I am going to make a start on it today. It may all turn to shit and I will need a new plan....but that's the fun of it

names and coconut

Thank you so much for all your thoughts and ideas on whether to change the name of my blog or not. It was great to read them all and I must say I am now none the wiser! BUT getting all your thoughts has made me think about it differently.
Thank you Marian for your loud protests, that made me laugh, and also made me think maybe instead of a completely different name I could just rework the old one. So I am working on those ideas now.
The main reason for the thoughts of a change are wanting the name to reflect the blog as a 'place' like you are dropping in somewhere....does that make any sense? like a street or a cottage etc.
Anyway, I will still play with the idea, I am still really not sure either way.

On a yummier note I wanted to share this recipe for coconut muffins, they are delicious and the kids love them. I made these gluten free and froze them to have one each morning for my breakfast, but they somehow just disappeared.

1/4 c butter
1/2 c sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 c milk OR 1 1/2 c yoghurt
2 1/2 c SR flour
1 c desiccated coconut

cream butter and sugar then beat in the eggs and milk/yoghurt, gently fold in dry ingredients
place in greased muffin tray bake at 180 degrees C for 25 minutes. makes 9-12
When muffins come out of the oven always let them cool for a few minutes first to rest. easy peasy and sooo worth it, maybe you might get to make some over the weekend.
Even though I often freeze mine, they are DEFINITELY best when fresh out of the oven

name change? maybe???

I have been playing with the idea for a few weeks about changing the name of my blog. I would still have the same URL but just change the name. After nearly four years of this blog I guess sometimes I feel like a change. Maybe to a title that reflects the blog, but to what of course. Although I do have a few ideas.
But it brings up issues. What if I decide after a few weeks I shouldn't of done it? Will readers still find me? Will I feel comfortable with it myself once I have done it?
Have you changed the name of your blog at any stage? How did it work out? Or did you even start a new blog with a name change and direct traffic from the old one? What do you think?
Or.......Should I get over it and just change the background again?

linens

Some gorgeous linens picked up on my latest hunt this week. The tablecloth - LOVE that texture, and there are 2 Humphrey curtains below. I seem to have gathered a few vintage Humphrey curtains over the years so I thought I would share this vintage lamp too. I picked this up on Ebay a few years ago and paid only $5 for it which I thought was pretty good. Especially when I saw recently it was selling in a Vintage Wares shop in Melbourne for $75!!!

happy weekend xx

spock

Here is Spock made by Zoe (The Eldest) for her boyfriend, Ben's 18th birthday. As you can see by Ben's movies, he is a bit of a Star Trek fan. Zoe designed, drafted and sewed this all herself and I think she has done a fabulous job. I love him and we were sad to see him go. After he was finished Zoe said she will "never make another soft toy as long as she lives" but I know she doesn't mean it!

cushion fun

I did manage to sew yesterday and got the birthday present made. You might think this is for a little boy, but in fact it's for a big boy.

He is turning 18. He loves and collects Marvel Comics so I am hoping he will like this. I made it big so he can use it as a floor cushion.

It is for The Eldest's boyfriend. She has been making him THE cutest thing (even though she insists she hates sewing) She will be finishing that off later today and gifting it tomorrow. I can't wait to show you. You will love it

creative space

My space this week has been at my sewing table. I did get side tracked though with taking photos of pins and notions. There is something so lovely about macro shots of sewing supplies. Just like macros of cupcakes too with lots of sprinkles.

I also was side tracked with the arrival of Mixtape. How wonderful to make a pot of tea and sit down to read it front to back.

I did manage to cut out some fabric to make a birthday present. If all goes to plan I will be sewing this today. It has got hot again though so I may well just drink lots of tea and check out other creative spaces...
pop over to Kirsty's to have a look too....
post edit: my gorgeous pins come from Gigi at Pinks and Needles

faded beauty

Even though the equinox is not until March 21st it still feels good it's March, it's that feeling that Autumn is almost upon us. I love everything about Autumn. The cool nights and mornings, our Japanese Maple turns luminous red for a short time before turning to a duller red and, of course the promise of winter in the air. Cosy doonas, granny blankets, holding a hot mug of tea and thick bed socks to name just a few wonderful things about winter.
Last week during a couple of cooler days we had I felt the need to go op shopping. You just wouldn't believe I haven't been since BEFORE xmas!! Crazy I know, what am I thinking, so I needed a fix big time. I found this gorgeous floral sheet. It has an even fade and is a lovely thick quality. It was a dash in and out but I hope to go again this week. I have missed my weekly treasure hunts, but I am really not up to much during January and February so I am sooo happy they are over.
You might remember I started a stitchery way back in January to watch the Australian Open with....well after about half an hour of stitching I totally lost motivation for it, just couldn't be bothered. I hope to pick that up again soon, although after looking at it yesterday I can see a lot has faded and it will need retracing, so that doesn't excite me.

hopefully I will be back during the week with some more thrifted faded gems....if that's what you are up to this week too...happy hunting
goodbye summer
