spaces

I seem to have lost a bit of blogging mojo lately.   The mojo was on fire during Blogtoberfest but now it seems to have died in the butt.
I am trying to do a little creating each day and have one mixed media piece finished from my online course.  I will share that when I get a photo.  But generally I am feeling a little grumpy and crappy.  The onset of humid weather does not help.   It means instant grumpiness for me.
My day was brightened today however, (despite the weather) when hubby came back from the shops with this HUGE new magazine for me!  I didn't even know it existed.  It is published by Frankie.
It is soooooo gorgeous.  Lots of reading and lots of eye candy.

There are peeps in here too whom we know.  There is even a look inside the very cool Etsy HQ.

Such an inspiring book.    It fills me with vintage/retro/cool/kitsch envy, but I am coping reasonably well.
check it out...

queen of glitter

Here is my finished tag I talked about in my last post.  It is flooded with glitter and was lots of fun to make.  I love the idea of a mini piece of art as I have always worked so big.  Most of my drawings are A1 size which is quite huge compared to this.  This is about 15cm x 20cm.
I am going to try and do a grungy looking one next without glitter, that will be hard but I have to set myself these little challenges after all...
The glitter shows up a bit better in this shot just in case you missed it in the first one....
Wishing you all a glittery week.  We are having thunderstorms at the moment and it's fabulous

a tag in time...

Last weekend Isobel and I settled in for an afternoon of creating.  We thought we might make ATCs (artist trading cards) so we would have a mini piece of art.  But then we decided on making a tag as we could have that any size and an ATC is a specific size of 6cm x 9cm.
I cut a couple of tags out of the cardboard we were recycling.
We set up all the supplies around us and put on Hanna Montana The Movie.
By the time the movie had finished Isobel had finished her tag and made 2 more and she had made one the night before in about an hour.

I, on the other hand had glued on the paper I wanted.  Stamped some stamps for background and punched a hole.    I had an idea of what I wanted.  I wanted pinks and greens, lots of glitter and to use a Suzi stamp.  But I just couldn't decide on placement etc.
It turned out to be another great lesson in how children just get on with it and some adults (me) hesitate before making a mark.  What's with that??  It didn't matter how it turned out but I was sooooooo slow and hesitant.

After a few hours we packed up our mess.  I left some things out in a pile so I could continue finish it the next day.
It had been wonderful doing creative stuff with Bel.  We hadn't done that together for a while.

I did finish it the next day.  I will show you but I have to take a photo yet.   I am really happy with it in the end.   But my whole point is I wish I could just dive in like Isobel did.  She covered hers with paper on both sides, stamped, freehand drew the chairs she wanted, wrote on tickets and finished the whole thing off AND made 2 more in the time I glued down paper and stamped a few stamps.  How crazy is that?   The whole time she was probably wondering what my problem was and why wasn't I just getting on with it......Maybe the truth be known, I was just enjoying Hanna Montana too much again!!!! yeah that's the reason...

sad

Such sad news about James Freud.   I was a HUGE fan of The Models, were you?   I saw them play in a pubs in Melbourne, they were fab.
He took his own life.
I heard him talk on Radio National a while back after his second memoir was published.  He really sounded happy and was getting it together after battling with drug and alcohol addiction.
Sad sad news......

RIP James

chasing butterflies

A gift from Hubby. Bought at The Deloraine Craft Fair.   Both pieces are brooches.  Aren't they gorgeously sweet?  What a lucky girl I am.
ps I just wanted to add that I didn't actually go to the Craft Fair, I wasn't well enough, Hubby went as he was teaching Archery for the day with his club but it was cancelled due to rain so he did some shopping instead......aren't I lucky it rained
