L is for sewing

Thank you so much for the get well wishes.  It has made me feel so good emotionally.    Things are still a bit crappy and I am not really up and about yet but thought I would share the project I made just before I became ill.
Also hubby has found me some brilliant op shop treasures which I will share over the next few posts
You are probably wondering what on earth is this that I have made?
Isobel wanted to make herself a cushion from a fave manga series "Death Note"  The protagonist is known as "L".   It is quite a scripted L and I knew it was going to be quite hard for her to make. Lots of angles to sew.
It really was a great thing she needed me to do it because it forced me to snap out of my no sewing mojo and it felt great to make something.
Isobel drew up the L to as close as she could get it to make it possible to sew   Then I thought the best way to do it was to make a solid base of cushion and then sew the light blue on top.  This way the cushion was a little more solid rather than having that whole middle bit of the L cut out.
The best part too is the dark blue polar fleece is from a jacket not worn anymore and the light blue fleece is from the stash, so it didn't cost anything to make.  I had the Poly fill (I hate trying to store that stuff) and I over stuffed it as I know it will flatten quickly.
Bel was extremely happy with the outcome and it's soft and squishy to use.   I was happy as I had to push myself  to sew something again.
I was in the zone for sewing and then my body gave up on me and said "no way will you be sewing anything else for a while yet" but it still felt good to have made something start to finish in one sitting. yay (I had to as Bel wanted to take it to a sleepover that night so no pressure)

I am drawing each day which is helping to keep me sane.  I am trying some new things and media and have tons of videos I have downloaded from my online mixed media courses which are keeping me inspired, so it's no all bad.  I still have quite a few I haven't watched yet so I look forward to them.

I hope your weekend has been a good one

Well, the sewing wasn't L until after you finished. That's a clever use of things on hand. I am stuffing with the Polyfill too, it has a life of its own, doesn't it??
Glad you are having little oases of wellness!!!

You are such an inspiration, Linda! A positive outlook in the midst of illness. I'm sure it can't be easy. (Glad you're drawing every day.)

I've said many times before that sewing is the perfect therapy. I hope you'll be sewing again very soon!

Just read your previous post, hadn't popped over for a while.
You're sounding a tiny bit better in this one, hope things continue to improve for you :)

The cushion is lovely ... unique.
All the best.
