oh what joy.....

an op shop can bring.....a lovely stack of tea towels from the op shop recently

I also collect new tea towels if they are kitsch enough like with wild flowers or maps or calendars so when mum bought this one off Ebay for me I was so happy.  Another must have criteria for new ones is they must be that lovely thick good quality linen of the vintage ones.
a couple of table cloths from the op shop too
and two Pyrex pie dishes.  Hubby found these ones for me.  I have a clear Pyrex one too that was Nan's.   Now I don't pretend to make a lot of pies but these can be used for a lot of things.   They work very well as pasta bowls.
Maybe you will find some great treasure this weekend

happy camper

I have wanted a caravan since I was seven years old when we had our first caravan holiday.  I loved that everything was so compact and in minature and imagined that's how I would live when I was a grown-up.   Well, it hasn't quite turned out that way.  But thanks to Clare I was able to buy this gorgeously cute pattern and will finally have as many caravans as I can make.
Thank you Clare xx

mixed pieces

It has been all about playing with ideas and art supplies lately.   I have been playing in my journal (usually while watching a movie)
playing with making larger faces for a larger piece

and I finally finished a mixed media piece for a swap with Cathy over at Tinniegirl and posted it off to her a couple of weeks ago.
for a peek into other spaces pop over to Kirsty's and check out the always very looong list of creative peeps

vintage cutters

These two treasures would have to be THE best find ever from the op shop.  The thing is, I didn't find them.  Isobel and her dad went op shopping a few weeks ago and found these. Apparently Bel saw them first and was quite excited so hubby bought them.
I was just beside myself as I have never seen anything like them before.  I LOVE LOVE LOVE the boxes I think they are fabulous
I don't think I would actually use them for cakes but they certainly will be part of my cookie cutter collection.  What huge biscuits they would make.
I am also stoked that my sweet 11yo girl absolutely knows what I would love when she goes to the op shop.   PLUS just the fact she loves to op shop

Just Like Heaven

I couldn't help myself.......I had to have this one too....it's my fave

A Cure all

This is for my sister Julie.    When we were younger we absolutely lived for The Cure.   Everything Cure and especially Robert Smith was divine.  We loved his eccentricities, we loved the music, we loved that Robert lived, breathed and wrote every word for his girl Mary.  We even sometimes wanted to help him with his lipstick application.
We still love The Cure, but when you are 20 music is such a huge part of who you are and every spare cent I had went into buying records...yes vinyl.. and DMs
Julie came to stay with me in Melbourne and we had tickets to a concert to see a smallish known band called INXS.  That same night another band were playing in Melbourne..The Cure.  At that stage we knew of them but weren't totally into them.
To this day I wish we had tickets that night to The Cure.  (INXS were good though)

What you never knew about dairy...

click title

If you are looking for dairy alternatives there are many of course available everywhere BUT
if you still want full cream or skim milk and cheese there are ELGAAR FARM products.  Totally organic and a have a wonderful environment for their cows.  They are in Deloraine in Tassie.  ASHGROVE are another organic dairy farm in Tassie in Elizabeth Town.  There must be many more in other states that are similar.

The Dairy Industry gets the go ahead or not tomorrow as to whether or not they have to feed the calves that are born to make the mothers constantly produce milk.   They are usually slaughtered at about 5 days old.  Thousands every year.  On top of their cruel behaviour towards these calves, not feeding them will of course save them money.     It has been a well kept secret, well not any more
